ATLANTA -- Georgia's Environmental Protection Division says the Air Quality Index for Metro Atlanta is 101 on Monday.

The EPD says the figure means Atlanta's air is unhealthy for sensitive groups, and it's issued an orange smog alert for the area.

The agency says children, people who are sensitive to ozone and people with heart or lung disease should limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest.

High temperatures are expected to be in the 80s on Monday and approaching 90 on Tuesday.

Guide to Getting Dumped

Guide to Getting Dumped

Now we all know getting dumped is the worse feeling ever in life. It’s like humiliation and a heart attack wrapped into one. But in actuality getting dumped is a new start, a chance to start all the way over!

Is It REALLY Over?

Acceptance is key. You can’t stop the heartbreak and move on until you severe your ties with your ex. Don’t try and keep in touch under the cloak of  friendship. Maybe you can be friends later on but for the time being the pain is too raw and it’s to easy to wind up in a yo-yo relationship.  Give yourself a “lot” of space.

City of Atlanta Asks Residents to Move Abandoned Cars for Road Treatment

City of Atlanta Asks Residents to Move Abandoned Cars for Road Treatment

The City of Atlanta is shifting its focus to clean neighborhoods and side streets of the snow/ice left over from the snow storm that came in on Sunday night.  We are asking the citizens of Atlanta to immediately remove their vehicle from the city streets (both legally parked/abandoned vehicles) so efforts can be made to clean the snow/ice off the roadway.

The equipment being used is heavy equipment; if vehicles are left on the roadway they may become damaged as these trucks are attempting to clean the roadway.

Those vehicles that were left abandoned by the owners who could not negotiate the snow/ice may result in the vehicle being towed from the roadway at the owner’s expense.

Atlanta's Department of Public Works says they are Ready for the Snow on Sunday...

Atlatna, GA--  Snow is the forecast for Sunday night into Monday, and 11Alive has been on the case asking the city if they are ready for the snow and how do they intend to respond to the ice.

The Department of Public Works  says that they "seek to maintain access in the immediate vicinity of emergency facilities such as hospitals, police stations and emergency shelters."  Of course, these areas can not be the only routes that take priority.  Thousands of residents will be on the roads and Public Works has acquired 6 sand trucks to distribute over 300 tons of sand to the city's 200 centerline miles. (which includes 40 bridges)

Priority routes are consistent with the functional street classification hierarchy which is based on the volume of traffic served and the connectivity provided:

  • first priority routes reflect major arterial  streets;  (e.g.
