Atlanta to vote on Sunday sales in November

ATLANTA -- Atlanta voters will decide on Nov. 8 whether retailers in the city should be allowed to sell beer, wine and distilled spirits on Sundays.

The Georgia Legislature voted this year to give communities the option of allowing Sunday sales. Many cities and counties around the state have scheduled votes on the issue.

The Atlanta City Council voted Monday to authorize Mayor Kasim Reed to enter into a contract with Fulton County to conduct the tally.

Atlanta voters also will vote that day on a school tax extension and to fill a vacancy on the school board.

The city agreed to pay the county up to $17,050 to run the election.

ATLANTA -- Five Guys has become the largest restaurant chain to sign up for the Coca-Cola Freestyle dispenser system.

The burger chain will begin installing two Coca-Cola Freestyle fountains in all company-owned restaurant locations across the country next month.

Five Guys has about 875 restaurants across the United States and Canada. It began testing Coke's Freestyle system in the Atlanta market, home to 24 of its restaurant locations, in 2010.

The touch screen-operated Freestyle lets consumers create their own personal and customized drinks, dispensing more than 100 sparkling and still beverage brands from one machine.

Firehouse Subs also recently adopted the Freestyle for its restaurants.
