Please be advised of the upcoming meetings regarding the "recommended" street name changes of Harris Street and Cone Street as shown in the legislation for discussion below:

Last Day for United Way's Online Auction with special VIP Gifts

Atlanta, GA--  Just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is sponsoring “Gift Back: An Online Auction” for the first time.  Dozens of items and packages will be available for bids from Nov. 26 through Dec. 6, 2010, by logging on to unitedwayatlanta.org.

Anyone wishing to nab one or more of the wonderful items, donated by local and national organizations, should bid and bid often to increase their chances of winning. Once bidding ends Dec. 6 at midnight, those with winning bids will be contacted by a United Way representative.

This is a public auction.  Funds will go toward reaching the United Way 2010 fundraising goal of $80.2 million. Some of the items available for bids include a trip to Super Bowl, tickets to the Tony Awards, Emmy Awards, Cancun getaway, a night with the Atlanta Braves, artwork, collectibles, airline tickets, Olympics paraphernalia and much, much more.

MOSAIC Group Wins Remodeling Awards

Atlanta-based MOSAIC Group [Architects and Remodelers] won two Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards in a recent competition sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. The categories were Residential Kitchen ($80,001-$120,000) and Residential Exterior Specialty. William Fadul and Rick Goldstein are the company owners.

An impartial panel of judges, who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant’s “before and after” photography and project description. Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.

MOSAIC Group [Architects and Remodelers] is a design/build firm with indoor and outdoor living divisions.

Fulton County Runoff Elections on Nov. 30th. Early Voting Ends 11/24

Atlanta, GA--  The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections will hold a runoff election in four political races on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Fulton County voters will be asked to select a candidate for Fulton County Superior Court Judge, State Supreme Court Justice and State Court of Appeals Judge. In addition, voters in Johns Creek will be asked to vote in a runoff election for City Council Post 5.

Advance voting for the runoff election will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

APD to Present their Proposal to Redesign Police Zones and Beats Nov. 4th at 6:30pm. All Welcome!!!

Atlanta, GA--  The Atlanta Police department to present their proposal for a zone redesign.  All are welcome to attend the monthly meeting of NPU-M's Public Safety Committee, tonight November 4th at 6:30 pm.  The meeting will be held at the Helene Mills Senior Center, 515 John Dobbs Avenue 30312.  At the meeting, the Atlanta Police Dept will present their proposal to redesign the City's police zones and beats. The proposal includes plans to move the Old Fourth Ward from Zone 5, which serves greater Midtown and Downtown, to Zone 6, which serves neighborhoods east of O4W including Morningside, Poncey-Hi, Virginia-Hi, Inman Park, and Candler Park. 

 

3-Wheeled PediCabs May be Coming to Atlanta Soon

Atlanta, GA--  Atlanta Could Join Austin, New York City, Boston and San Francisco in use of new Transportation Mode.  Atlanta City Councilmember Kwanza Hall introduced legislation authorizing the operation of pedicabs within the city of Atlanta.

Fulton County Announces Early and Advance Voting Locations

FULTON COUNTY, GA -- Fulton County voters can cast their ballots for the November 2, 2010 General Election at several new sites until October 29th. Voters in Georgia do not have to provide a reason to vote prior to Election Day either by mail or in person.

 The three additional voting locations are available beginning Monday, October 18, 2010 through Friday, October 29, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.:
