Dispose of your Christmas Tree at the Home Depot on Ponce, until Jan.8th

Dispose of your Christmas Tree at the Home Depot on Ponce, until Jan.8th

Atlanta,  GA--  The Keep Atlanta Beautiful organization is once again asking Atlanta residents to be more environmentally conscience, and to dispose of their Christmas trees at a recycling event instead of putting them out on the street for trash pick up.

You can recycle your Christmas trees anytime between now and January 8 at the Sidney Marcus and Ponce de Leon Home Depots.  Just look for the cordoned off areas in the parking lot.

On January 8, members of Buckhead Boy Scout Troop 298 will help Keep Atlanta Beautiful and Davey Tree Company recycle the trees for the Bring One for the Chipper annual Christmas Tree recycling program.

Since 1991, "Bring One for the Chipper," has collected over 5 million trees.

The program produces tangible environmental benefits while helping local governments comply with state regulations that prohibit the disposal of yard trimmings in lined municipal landfills.  The mulch from these trees

Cool Alternative from Trees Atlanta to your Normal Holiday Shrubbery

Atlanta, GA--  (submitted by Trees Atlanta) Decorate Your House with a Live Christmas Tree* and Help Sustain Atlanta's Tree Canopy!

Help support Trees Atlanta by purchasing locally-grown trees that you can plant after the holidays or donate back to Trees Atlanta for us to plant. We are offering two species this year. For a donation of $75 ($50 if you donate it back to Trees Atlanta to plant), you can receive either a Deodar cedar (/Cedrus deodara/) in a 15g container or an Eastern redcedar (/Juniperus virginiana/ 'Burkii') in a 15g container.

Deodar cedars are true cedars that have stronger branches and can hold ornaments better than the redcedars, but are not as dense. The Eastern redcedars are dense and fragrant, and hold lights and lightweight ornaments.

Reply to susan@treesatlanta.org if you are interested in buying a live Christmas tree.
