Citywide Graffiti Abatement Unveiled Wednesday

The Department of Public Works has developed a citywide graffiti abatement program to eradicate the city of graffiti, and provide educational outreach and community involvement.

Live Music and Performances On Stage for Midtown Festival of the Arts Sept. 25-26

ATLANTA – Live music is a centerpiece of the Midtown Festival of the Arts. The inaugural event taking place Sept. 25 and 26 features three outdoor stages and performances at a beautiful and historic Midtown neighborhood church.

                Headline bands include Raleigh’s popular “jangle-pop outfit” The Connells in a rare performance on the Main Stage Saturday evening, with first-of-their-genre ’80s tribute band The Breakfast Club set to rock the Festival’s Main Stage on Sunday evening.

Castleberry Hill Chili Cookoff - November 13th! Enter Now 6 Trophies up for Grabs!!!

The annual Chili Cookoff, which raises funds for Atlanta Fire Dept #1 in Castleberry Hill will be held on Elliott Street, Saturday, November 13th from 2-5pm. Judging will be handled by the firemen and start at 3pm. More information coming soon, in the meantime click here to download an entry form and submit to social@castleberryhill.org. FLUX 2010 Art Event

FLUX is a one-night public art celebration presented by Flux Projects in the streets and empty spaces of the Castleberry Hill Art District. The event includes large and small-scale projections, performance, dance, music, light installations, and other forms of multi-media projects and public interactions.

This year’s event will takes place tonight, Friday, October 1, from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. The evening is free and open to the public. It will be a night of art & arm wrestling, performance, outdoor films, escaped zebras, parades, projections, and experimentation!

Inman Park Restaurant Week, Sept. 20-26th

Atlanta, GA--  September is officially Hunger Action Month, and this year's Fall Inman Park Restaurant Week will benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) and its Atlanta Table Project.  13 Restaurants will be offering 3 course meals ranging in price of $15, $25, and $35.

In lieu of the ACFB's regular fundraiser, each of the 13 participating restaurants will be offering raffle tickets for $1.00 that will go towards charity. 

The raffle prize will be a party for the winner and 30 of their friends at Shaun's Restaurant.  Chefs from each of the restaurants participating will prepare hors d'oevres and provide beer and wine for the private party.

Restaurants at $15 include: Fritti, Pure Taqueria, The Albert, North Highland Pub

$25: Wisteria, Parish Food and Goods, Fritti, Park's Edge, Rathbun's, Sauced, Shaun's, Sotto Sotto

$35: Kevin Rathbun Steak

County Jobs for Fulton Residents

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved the county’s first Job Source Policy, at its September 15 meeting.  By enacting this policy, the county will create a pool of employable Fulton county residents who would be eligible to fill jobs created by certain projects funded by the County.

“The Board of Commissioner feels that it is our responsibility to try and help the citizens of Fulton County as much as we can during these hard economic times. This policy will help to provide stable economic opportunities for families throughout the County” stated Fulton County Chairman John H. Eaves.

This policy will apply to all contracts procured through the Department of Purchasing & Contract Compliance valued in excess of $200,000.

Early Voting Locations Announced

Atlanta, GA--  Early voting for the General Election begins Monday, September 20, 2010 at three locations: Fulton County Government Center (141 Pryor Street, SW Atlanta, GA 30303), Fulton County North Annex (7741 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs 30350), and the South Fulton Annex (5600 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park, GA 30349) from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Voters can cast their ballots at three additional locations beginning Monday, October 18, 2010. Those locations are: Adamsville Recreation Center (3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Atlanta, GA 30311), Ocee Branch Library (5090 Abbots Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30005) and Roswell Branch Library (115 Norcross Street, Roswell, GA 30075).

Advance voting for the General Election will be held at all six locations listed above beginning Monday, October 25, 2010 through Friday, October 29, 2010 from 8:30 a.m.
